OUR STORY

Our Story

Pastor Joe and Teena Skiles became pastors of New Hope Church on November 1, 2015 and are honored to continue the legacy of this great church.  What started as a small group meeting in a storefront in Pittsburg eventually emerged into the originally named Full Gospel Church of Concord when two acres were purchased on Olivera Road in 1957 to establish a place of worship for a group of people who loved God and loved their city.

Throughout the past six decades, New Hope Church has been a vital part of Contra Costa County.  The same love for God and for the city still exists and expands across the east bay region.   We believe that we are better together and together we build healthy relationships, healthy homes, and healthy communities.  New Hope Church is a neighborhood church; therefore we are diverse and encourage all generations and ethnicities to worship together.

Weekly, we encourage people with the Word of God and Worship.  New Hope Church has established itself as a place of Hope, because we share Jesus Christ.  We focus on reaching out to those who do not know God personally and building relationships through life groups.  We also focus on helping equip people in order to give them an opportunity to fulfill their purpose on earth.  We believe you are to live a blessed life.

For decades, New Hope Church has been a missional church.  We gladly and generously support many works across the globe that share the gospel of Jesus Christ.  We do not stay on our corner, but we reach across the street, across the city, across the state, across the world to share the Hope of Jesus with others.

We invite you to see for yourself how exciting church can be when the focus is simple and people are free to seek God with passion!

Meet Our Pastors

Joe and Teena Skiles

Joe and Teena Skiles became lead pastors of New Hope Church in November 2015. They bring to the East Bay a touch of their mid-western charm and contagious passion for God and people. They have served together in ministry for over 20 years and are committed to reaching all generations for Jesus Christ. Through previous ministry opportunities, they have traveled the world and have ministered nationally and internationally. It is their desire that people of all ages experience God in such a way that their journeys are impacted and they become an inspiration for others to discover God. The Skiles love living in Northern California. They have four beautiful daughters and a son-in-law (Brooke, Alexandrea, Maisie, and Courtney & Guillermo Gonzalez) and a Boston Terrier named Walter Mitty. Family favorites consist of sports, the great outdoors, traveling, coffee, and good conversations.
