DAY 2 | POSTURED TO GROW
Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.
Colossians 2:7 NLT
Devotional: How can we be postured to grow in Christ? Colossians 2:7 encourages us to let our roots grow deep into Him and to build our lives upon His foundation.
How do we do this? We grow through the spiritual disciplines of reading God’s Word and spending time in prayer. Just as roots in the natural require water and nourishment to thrive, our spiritual roots need the living water of God’s Word and consistent communion with Him through prayer. As our roots grow deeper in Christ, our faith becomes stronger, steadier, and less vulnerable to the shifting circumstances of life. Growth also comes through obedience. As we posture our hearts to follow God’s Word and respond to His leading, He shapes us into the image of Christ. Challenges, disappointments, and trials may come, but when we remain rooted in Him, those seasons become opportunities for spiritual growth rather than reasons to give up.
A posture of growth also requires humility and repentance. As we surrender our hearts to the Lord, He continues His transforming work within us day by day. Growth is not about perfection; it is about remaining connected to the One who causes us to flourish. As we continue growing in Christ, let us cultivate hearts filled with gratitude, remembering the countless blessings, grace, and faithfulness God has freely poured into our lives.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You that through a relationship with You I grow in truth, wisdom, and faith. Thank You for not leaving me alone, but for giving me the Holy Spirit to lead and guide me into all truth. Lord, help me remain rooted and grounded in You. As I spend time in Your Word and in prayer, let my roots grow deep and my faith grow strong. Strengthen me through every season, sustain me through every challenge, and continue transforming me into the image of Christ. May my life be firmly built upon Your truth, and may my heart overflow with gratitude for all You have done. Keep me steadfast, unshakable, and continually growing in Your love and grace. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
DAY 1 | POSTURED TO PRAY
Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.
Jeremiah 29:12-13
Devotional: There are many ways a person may posture themselves in prayer, but I believe the Lord is less concerned with our physical position than He is with the posture of our hearts. Prayer is a loving and intimate conversation with our Father in Heaven. It is acknowledging Him as a loving Father while also recognizing Him as Almighty God. Prayer is filled with awe and wonder, praise and adoration, reverence and obedience, surrender and forgiveness. It is also where we learn to intercede, listen, and express the things we cannot always put into words.
In Matthew 6:9-13, during the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus taught His disciples a model for prayer. Commonly known as the Lord’s Prayer, it serves as a spiritual template that includes worship, surrender to God’s will, dependence on Him for our daily needs, forgiveness, and protection. Jesus said, “This, then, is how you should pray: ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.’”
When you think of your Father in Heaven, remember that you can come to Him openly, vulnerably, and honestly. He already knows your needs, yet He still desires to hear your heart. He is not only the Lord of your life but also the loving Father you can run to in every season. When you do not know what to say, He understands. He comforts, reassures, forgives, and intercedes for you.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I praise Your holy name and thank You for the gift of prayer. Thank You for the pattern Jesus gave us through the Lord’s Prayer, teaching us how to approach You with both confidence and reverence. Help me to seek Your kingdom first, align my heart with Your will, trust You for my daily needs, walk in forgiveness, and depend on Your grace and protection. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
